Informative Session on Digital Library Resources

 On the occasion of National Librarian  Day, Library Advisory committee of PCM S.D. College for Women organized an informative session on Digital Library Resources to guide students about the effective use of e-resources. The session was conducted by Ms. Sonia Kumari, Librarian, who explained how digital libraries are transforming the way students access information. During her address, Ms. Sonia highlighted the availability of various e-journals, e-books, databases, online theses, OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue), and open-access resources provided by the college library. She also explained the process of accessing these resources both on-campus and remotely. She emphasized that digital resources save time, provide authentic information, and support students’ academic and research needs. The shift from non- digital ( paper-based) documents to digital formats has transformed education system, improving efficiency and accessibility while also presenting new challenges.  Before the digital revolution, documents were primary stored in physical form such as books, files and manuscripts.  The rise of computers and the internet led to the gradual digitization of documents, e.g scanning & digital storage, cloud computing and Searchability and efficiency.
